Featured — The Sculpt, wide-toothHYR makes combs for every ritual — styling, detangling, barbering, beard care and pocket. Cut, polished and finished in Cincinnati from recycled and renewable materials, and built to be kept for years, not months.
Philosophy
We took the most familiar tool in hairdressing and asked what it could become — in the hand, in the material, and in the world.
“A comb should be beautiful enough to display, strong enough to pass down, and honest enough to tell you what it is made of.”
HYTUDFGR LLC — Cincinnati, OhioHYR was founded to make the comb exceptionally well. We design and manufacture combs of every kind — wide-tooth and fine-tooth, tail and taper, detangling and shower, beard and pocket. Each is shaped around the hand that holds it and the hair it meets, then cut and polished on our own floor.
Our ambition is to lead the industry in environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, and to change how people think about what a comb can be. That means recycled and renewable materials, repairable construction, and production that can be reconfigured for a single personalised piece without waste.
“A future where production is fully automated and fully customisable — where unique, personal combs are made at scale without sacrificing quality or sustainability.”
The Range
Every comb begins with the same questions: how does it feel in the hand, and how long will it last? Here are four of our most loved forms.

Responsibility
A comb that lasts a decade is the most sustainable comb there is. We start with better materials and build for repair — then take every piece back.
Material study — reclaimed acetate & bio-polymer
Recycled aluminium, reclaimed acetate, FSC-certified sandalwood, bio-based polymers and organic cotton packaging. 97% of our input mass is recycled or renewable.
Our Cincinnati workshop runs on renewable electricity, with rooftop solar covering the daytime load and waste heat recovered from polishing lines.
Closed-loop production. Offcuts return to the mill, polishing dust is captured and recirculated, and nothing we make is sent to landfill.
Every comb can be re-toothed, re-polished or returned for material recovery. Longevity is our most effective sustainability strategy.
05 — Manufacturing
Our floor is built around the individual comb, not the other way round. CNC cells cut and polish teeth to tolerances a hand cannot hold; our people judge the edge, the weight and the finish. Fully automated and fully configurable — so a single personalised comb receives the same rigour as a thousand.
Form, tooth pitch and material are drawn and cut in-house within days.
Automated cells cut the teeth; hands refine every edge and surface.
Personalisation, inspection and packing before anything leaves the floor.
Culture
We do not believe in finished. We believe in better — measured, tested and improved again.
Fewer parts. Better materials. Longer life. It is a discipline, not a slogan.
Every comb is reviewed after six months of daily use. What loosens, what dulls, what can be removed — those findings go straight back into the next batch. The result is a range that improves quietly, year after year.
The best comb is often the simplest one. We remove before we add.
Every comb opens, services and returns. Longevity is engineered in.
Durability is our most effective sustainability strategy.
Open material data, published audits and honest, unexaggerated claims.
